Central United Methodist Church

	SARANAM This is a two-year transitional housing program for homeless families which is designed to help them acquire the education and life skills necessary for independent living.  The Frances Thaxton Ash Endowment, held by the NM Conference Foundation, provides partial support for this ministry.  For more information, click on www.saranamabq.org
	LITTLE SUNBEAMS This Christian nonprofit child development center opens its doors to all persons and offers children opportunities to grow and develop in all areas — spiritual, emotional, social, physical and cognitive.
	HELPING HANDS As part of being a church and following Jesus, we assist people who walk in, seeking help, to meet their immediate short-term needs.  We treat people with dignity and provide a spiritual resource to all who seek it. For more information, contact the church office at 505-243-7834.
	PROJECT SHARE This is a nonprofit City-wide program for families struggling to make ends meet.  We support this program through regular donations of food and service.
	UNITED METHODIST MEN The men of Central United Methodist Church meet for breakfast the third Saturday of each month.  Proceeds from their fundraising projects benefit various ministries and mission projects.
	UNITED METHODIST WOMEN The women of Central United Methodist Church join forces with other Methodist women in the region to support various ministries and mission projects
	APS TITLE I HOMELESS CHILDREN PROGRAM Helen Fox, a member of Central, began a program to provide continuity for children attending public schools even though their families were homeless and moved from area to area.  This program provides homeless children the opportunity to take showers, obtain clothing, get a breakfast and receive tutoring after school.
	THRIFT SHOP This all-volunteer supported program accepts clothing, jewelry, household and other resalable items.  Clothing may be donated to individuals upon the request of the ministers.  The proceeds from items sold are used to support the Church and its ministries.  The items are sold at nominal cost which benefits the City’s low income families.
	MISSIONS In addition to the missions Central supports through its Shared Ministries contributions, Central specifically supports Martin Reeves in Peru and Mark Abbott in Spain.  For more information, click on www.UMCOR.org.  Central’s congregation and youth spend a week each summer providing service to an area needing assistance.  Periodically the mission trip is outside the United States.  For more information about Youth Missions, see Programs, Youth, Missions.
