Brief Look at Sundays
SUNDAYS AT CENTRAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
On Sundays there are four ways to enter the Church.
The south (Copper) entrance is the main entrance to the narthex and sanctuary.
The east entrance takes you past the office into the gathering area.
The north entrance is through the elevator; the M level is the main floor.
The northwest entrance is into the children’s Sunday School area and choir room.
Sundays begin with coffee and donuts in the Gathering Area, reached from the office entrance to the Church or through the Sanctuary to the office area.
SERVICES AND SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES:
The first traditional service begins at 8:25 am. Often soloists or the children sing in this service.
If you entered the Sanctuary through the south (Copper) entrance, there will still be donuts left in the Gathering area. We welcome your fellowship.
Sunday School classes for children K-5 begin at 9:30 am and for adults, 2yr olds-5yr olds and youth it begins at 9:45 am.
Also at 9:45 am is the Contemporary service which is held in the Social Hall. Coffee is available during the service and children are welcome.
The second traditional service is held at 10:55 am in the Sanctuary. This service could be called “high church” if such a thing existed in a Methodist Church.
LUNCH AND MEETINGS:
Following the 10:55 am service, a hot lunch is available in the Social Hall at a modest cost. Periodically there are concerts during Sunday lunch.
Various groups and committees meet after lunch.
YOUTH MUSIC AND WORSHIP:
At 2:45 pm the youth handbell group practices in room 315
At 4:00 pm the youth choir practices in room 317
At 5:00 pm the youth gather for dinner, fellowship and worship.
Sundays are pretty busy at Central – we hope you will join us for one or more of these events.
